Inauguration of Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing at Kosei Minda Aluminum Company in Tamil Nadu

On 25 August 2021, a Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) was inaugurated at Kosei Minda Aluminum Company in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu as the 17th JIM in India and the second in Tamil Nadu. Participating as chief guest, Mr. Miyamoto, Minister, Embassy of Japan in India, as well as Mr. Sikdar, Director (IC & T), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, and Prof. Chawla, Advisor (Japan), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, both participating virtually, congratulated the inauguration and expressed their hope that the JIM will contribute to the development of a skilled workforce and help strengthen the global strategic partnership between Japan and India. Mr. Taga, Consul-General of Japan in Chennai, said, “It is my wish that the 25 students studying annually at this institute will contribute to the Make in India initiative as well as the economic development of India and the world.”
