Networking Dinner for Japanese Language Teachers – South India

On 24 July 2025, the Consul-General of Japan in Chennai, Mr. TAKAHASHI Muneo, hosted a special networking dinner at the residency to bring together Japanese language educators from across South India.

The evening opened with a warm welcome by the Head of Culture & Information Section, followed by a keynote address by Consul-General Takahashi. In his remarks, he highlighted the rapid growth of Japanese language education in the region, noting that South India is home to over 12,000 learners—nearly one-third of all Japanese language learners in India.

He emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration among educators, the sharing of teaching resources, and the potential to establish a regional network of Japanese language teachers to support mutual growth and professional development.

Representatives from the Japan Foundation also shared their insights, underscoring the significance of ongoing cooperation in the field of Japanese language education and the value of building strong institutional linkages.

The evening concluded with a dinner, offering a relaxed atmosphere for teachers to exchange ideas, foster connections, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
