Tamil–Japanese Cultural Exchange Event “Vanakkam Japan” to Showcase Japanese Traditions in Chennai.
Chennai, August 23, 2025 — The Tamil Cultural Communication Salon from Japan, in collaboration with the Consulate-General of Japan in Chennai, supported by the Consulate-General of India, Osaka-Kobe, Japan, ABK–AOTS DOSOKAI, Tamil Nadu Centre, Sakurai City Tourism and Town Development Division & NPO Japan Culture Promotion Association, are proud to present Vanakkam Japan, a vibrant Tamil–Japanese exchange event introducing the rich traditions, arts, and culture of Japan.

The evening’s highlights include:
- Revealing & Explaining Traditional Japanese Bridal Wear – Presentation of a white kimono and Irouchikake, along with a variety of kimono styles.
- Japanese Tourist Attractions – A special video showcasing Yamato, the birthplace of Japan, and one of Japan’s oldest shrines, soon to be registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2026.
- Exchange of Classical Arts Performances – Tsugaru shamisen by Mr. Aruloli (Tamil Nadu) and Bharatanatyam by Ms. Manami (Japan).
- Cultural Participation – Bon Odori, the traditional Japanese dance, inviting audience participation.
