About the Expo
The Chennai Japan Expo is organized by the Consulate-General of Japan in Chennai, in collaboration with JETRO, The Japan Foundation, ABK-AOTS DOSOKAI (Tamil Nadu Centre), and VR Chennai as the venue partner.
The Expo features a rich and engaging lineup of exhibitions, presentations, workshops, and interactive activities. Visitors can enjoy hands-on workshops, Japanese martial arts demonstrations, ikebana (flower arrangement) displays, and captivating traditional Japanese music and stage performances.

Stage Performances & Highlights

Tsugaru Shamisen
Yosakoi from Kochi Prefecture
Visitors can look forward to an exciting stage program featuring:
  • Japanese songs performed with the Tsugaru Shamisen (a traditional Japanese stringed i instrument) 
  • Anime song performances by the Chennai Karaoke Band (CKB)
  • J-pop songs and Tamil song by J-Hind 
  • Yosakoi dance performance (a special traditional dance from Kochi Prefecture)
  • Ikebana (flower arrangement) demonstrations
  • Sado (Tea Ceremony) demonstrations 
  • Panel discussions by Japanese companies
  • Cosplay show by the Chennai Anime Club, and more
