Chennai Japan Expo 2026, held on 31 January and 1 February 2026 at VR Chennai, Anna Nagar, was a resounding success, receiving an enthusiastic response from the public.

Organised by the Consulate-General of Japan in Chennai, in collaboration with JETRO, The Japan Foundation, and ABK AOTS Dosokai Tamilnadu Centre, the two-day Expo showcased opportunities related to Travel, Study, and Work in Japan, while highlighting the richness of Japanese culture and traditions.

The Expo witnessed an estimated footfall of approximately 20,000–23,000 visitors over the two days. Visitors included students, professionals, families, and Japan enthusiasts who actively engaged with the exhibition booths, cultural activities, and interactive sessions.

The Inauguration Ceremony on 31 January marked the formal opening of the Expo, followed by a full day of vibrant stage performances, exhibitions, cultural demonstrations, and displays on 1 February. The programmes were well received throughout the event.

With VR Chennai, Anna Nagar as the Venue Partner and Yamaha as the Cultural Partner, the event was executed smoothly and successfully fulfilled its objective of strengthening people-to-people exchange and fostering closer Japan–India relations.

Overall, the Chennai Japan Expo 2026 achieved its vision and created a meaningful platform for cultural exchange, information sharing, and collaboration, leaving a lasting impression on all participants and visitors.
