APPLICATION GUIDELINES JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (MEXT) SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2027 (UG STUDENTS)

| Age | Applicants, in principle, must have been born on or after April 2, 2002. |
| Fields of study | (1) Social Sciences and Humanities Social Sciences and Humanities - A 1. Law 2. Politics 3. Pedagogy 4. Sociology 5. Literature 6. History 7. Japanese Language 8. Others (excluding “1. Economics” and “2. Business Administration” “3. Others” in Humanities B.) Social Sciences and Humanities - B 1. Economics 2. Business Administration 3. Others (Accounting, Financial Economics, etc.) (Note) Applicants who choose “8. Others” in the Humanities – A course may have difficulties in finding universities that can accept them, depending on their majors. Fields of art, including music, are not majors eligible for application. (2) Natural Sciences Natural Sciences - A Science (1. Mathematics 2. Physics 3. | Qualifications and conditions | In addition to the qualifications and conditions listed in the Guidelines, the following conditions must be fulfilled: 1. If you have completed your Grade 12 in or before 2026, then minimum 80% marks are required. 2. For students who do not have their Grade 12 result at the time of the application, 80% marks are required in their Grade 10, along with a provisional document from the current school certifying that the applicant is expected to score more than 80% in their 2027 Grade 12 board examinations. * Preference will be given to candidates with Japanese Language proficiency. |
| Period of scholarship | 1. A grantee who studies at a preparatory educational institution prior to enrollment in a university: The scholarship period will last for five years from April 2027 to March 2032, including one-year preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects due to be provided upon arrival in Japan. 2. A grantee who enrolls in a university through direct placement: The scholarship period will last for four years. The scholarship period will start from the time of enrollment in the university which the university designates. |
